International Day for the Abolition of Slavery

Join us this December as we shine a light on the International Day of the Abolition of Slavery. From the Congo to the United Kingdom, the existence of modern day slavery is a rampant issue that is alive and thriving on a global scale. According to the United Nations and the International Labour Organisation, in 2021 alone, an estimated 50 million people - a majority of whom are women and children - were victims of modern day slavery. Today, that number only continues to grow as countless communities and populations remain vulnerable to the ever-evolving, hydra-headed system we call slavery.

National Indigenous People’s Day

Please note this event will take place at 7pm GMT which at the time of page creation was: 11am PST | 12 noon MST | 1pm CST | 2pm EST but please double check for daylight savings time changes! For more time conversions head here.

In this event we will take a look at authenticity and its place in the workplace as part of the solution for DEI in real life versus virtue signaling on the books and in the media.

We will look at what it means to lead as industry experts through authentic voices and dialogue that create coherence in work communities and team leadership. A subjugated voice has no freedom to express its self; the wisdom in those voices is then lost.

This talk will focus on the fact diversity has always existed and how we can increase industry thought leadership with human centered practices that take into to context integrity, excellence, ability, and transparency through innovative soft skills that create leaders through community from the Indigenous perspective. We will address this from several perspectives to bring the learning points home for everyone in a conducive way that is applicable in work and everyday life.

Expect to be surprised, challenged, and appreciative. We will look at some of the challenges currently in the DEI space and why they are problematic to true equity and inclusion. We will close with some thoughts on practical practices moving forward.
